The concert series Classic in the Courttýard - young soloists live is a new concert format for young classical talent, bringing the values behind The Olesen Music Award to life through engaging encounters between musicians and audiences.
Four Sunday concerts for a young and curious audience, featuring some of the most exciting emerging classical musicians on stage. The series celebrates the value of talent, depth and dedication in an age defined by quick solutions and digital acceleration, creating new encounters between passionate young classical musicians and an audience of their peers.
It offers an opportunity to discover some of the most promising young Nordic soloists and ensembles in an informal concert setting, where intimacy, communication and a sense of community are just as important as virtuosity.
Classic in the Courtyard requires no prior knowledge. Just a willingness to listen, experience and perhaps be surprised by what classical music can be.
ABOUT THE CONCERTS
The concerts take place in the GARAGE at Mogens Dahl Concert Hall, where the traditional concert hall setting gives way to a more informal atmosphere.
The bar opens one hour before the concert, and each performance lasts around an hour without an interval.
The musicians introduce the music themselves throughout the concert, sharing insights into the works and their own experiences of performing them.
After the concert, the conversation continues with a moderated session, giving the audience an opportunity to get closer to both the music and the people behind it.
Ticket prices are deliberately kept low to make the concerts accessible to everyone – and a drink at the bar is included in the ticket.

ENSEMBLE X.AUDI
Meet Ensemble X.Audi – a new chamber ensemble of young Danish musicians with a strong ambition to reinvent the classical concert experience. Initiated by conductor Nicholas Algot Swensen, the ensemble brings together around 20 young soloists who share a strong artistic drive and a desire to demonstrate just how vibrant and relevant classical music is today. For the first concert in Classic in the Courtyard, Ensemble X.Audi presents a programme of energetic and boundary-pushing music by Arnold Schönberg and John Adams. Along the way, the musicians offer informal introductions to the works, followed by an opportunity to meet them after the concert and join a conversation about the music and their work.

Tuba in the spotlight
Few people would associate the tuba with a world-class solo career. August Schieldrop is here to change that. The young Norwegian tuba virtuoso has captivated audiences across Europe with his extraordinary talent. Together with violinist Alfred Linus Wang and pianist Harald Ramm Haugland, he presents a programme full of surprises, combining infectious energy with dazzling virtuosity – and offering a whole new perspective on an instrument you thought you knew. The wonderful world of song
Love, longing, humour and heartbreak. Classical music doesn’t get more human than the human voice, and song gives words to all the things we carry with us. This evening has it all. Danish singers Louise McClelland, known to many from DR’s The Next Diva, and Asmus Hanke, together with pianist Laurits Dragsted, invite us into the wondrous world of song – from the grand emotions and dramatic duets of the opera stage to intimate stories for voice and piano. NOVO QUARTET
How do four people make four instruments sound like one shared voice? That is part of the magic of a string quartet, and few young ensembles master it better than NOVO Quartet. The Danish quartet has made an international name for itself in remarkably little time and now performs on some of the world’s leading stages for classical music. At the same time, they are known for their down-to-earth and humorous approach to music, inviting audiences right into the heart of the creative process. Experience four young musicians at the top of their game in a concert filled with energy, intimacy and world-class chamber music.
